Kiwanis Car Seat Replacement Program

As a major sponsor of Safe Kids Nevada County, Gold Country Kiwanis is an integral part of helping to keep Nevada County children safe.  Together, Gold Country Kiwanis and Safe Kids Nevada County work toward the goals of both Kiwanis International’s Pediatric Trauma Prevention Programs and Safe Kids Worldwide injury prevention programs.  At various annual community events, our group provides information tables with handouts on Bicycle Safety, Skate Board Safety, Skiing Safety (water and snow), Boating Safety as well as Child Passenger Safety.  We also provide a Multi-sport helmet fitting station to ensure the children have properly sized helmets.   Although Safe Kids Nevada County does provide injury prevention materials for multiple areas, our primary focus has been  Child Passenger Safety.  We work to ensure that the children of Nevada County have appropriate car seats that are used correctly in motor vehicles.  To accomplish this we have Nationally Certified Car Seat Technicians conducting Car Seat Check-Up inspection events within Nevada County.  At these events we inspect car seats, assist parents or care givers in the correct installation of the seat, and in many instances give away car seats to area residents who need assistance in obtaining a new seat.   All items we provide, are free of charge to those in need.  We do this to ensure Nevada County children are as safe as possible.  For more information about our programs or if you know someone who needs assistance with a car seat please give contact us.  Call us at 530.262.1280 or send us an e-mail to safekidsnc@comcast.net.
