Welcome
Kiwanis Club of the Gold Country
Ordinary people performing
EXTRAORDINARY WORK
Kiwanis, through guidance and example, works to
develop future generations of leaders. Every day, Kiwanians are
revitalizing neighborhoods, organizing youth-sports programs, planting
trees, building playgrounds, and performing countless other projects
to help children and communities.
Serves . . . . . Western Nevada County through community service
projects in support of our youth, senior citizens, and the community at
large.
Fund Raising . . . .
. Our major fund raising project is a
food booth at the Nevada County Fair as well as the
Draft Horse Classic. In addition, we launched a new fund
raising project in 2007 - the Kiwanis Beach Party,
presented for the first time, and very successfully, on November 9,
2007. The Second Annual Kiwanis Beach Party is scheduled
for Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the Miners Foundry in Nevada City. Our
newest fund raiser is the
Kiwanis Doll Project. Click on
the link to the left of this page for full details of this new and
exciting project. Service
Projects . . . . . In addition to our support of three Key Clubs, one
at each of our local high schools, we also stage a Kiwanis
Back-to-School project where almost 60 elementary school
students are assisted with their back to school needs. This project is
co-sponsored by K-Mart.
We also support a variety of other community service
projects through the activities of our Team One committee, including a very
successful pediatric trauma and child car seat replacement program.
New for 2008 is the
Kiwanis Hospital Doll Project. Check out the details by
clicking on the link above.
Our Goal . . .
We have barely enough members to successfully support the
projects we are currently working on but not enough to do what we would
like to do for our community.
It's Your Choice . . .
"Private choices are not private; they all have
public consequences. Our society is the sum total of what millions
of individuals do in their private lives. That sum total of
private behavior has worldwide public consequences of enormous
magnitude. There are no completely private choices."
James E. Faust - 1987
