Team One Minutes – July 21, 2010
Sierra View Manor
Attending members: Tom Morrissey, Lew Aebersold, Howard Levine, Vanessa Laidley Tennies, Jane Flahive, Homer Nottingham, Dan Peck, Barry Hopkins, Paulette Aebersold.
Meeting called to order by Tom: 5:40 pm.
Minutes were read, motion to approve by Barry, seconded by Dan.
Old Business:
Went through letters and money request that were received by Tom.
New Business:
WOW has a needs list for Hetty's Haven. It was thought that money from the surplus budget could be used for some of the items. Dan said that Habitat for Humanity will be putting in around 6 or 7 thousand of work in Hettys's Haven. Tom said this is all children related. Homer suggested that we give a check to WOW for $1000 so they can choose whatever they need. Motion to approve by Homer, seconded by Vanessa.
Lew suggested that we should have an amendment that states that money given to WOW should be used for items only on the Hetty's Haven list. Motion to approve by Homer, seconded by Dan.
Homer asked about the robotics club that Mike would like to start up.
Need to get something from the Boy Scouts.
Safe Kids has requested $2000 for next year's budget.
Lew suggested that we should let the Marching Presidents pass out the constitution pamphlet.
Grad Night: A check needs to be issued before grad night. Lew thought we should increase donation for grad night, Vanessa agreed. $400 suggested for each school, motion not approved at this time.
Tom did some explaining on KFH, Kiwanis Family House. They are trying to set a goal that is reasonable for smaller clubs, would like $1000 from each club. Howard suggested $500 from club and $500 from Kiwanis members. Dan suggested putting $500 into budget, motion not approved at this time.
Kiwanis Kids Back to School: Lew said we are maxed out with Grass Valley students.
Doll Project: Dan made some calls to see if some organization would need dolls, emergency room etc. Patty K needs some sort of demonstration on how to use the dolls. Seem to need some guidance. Homer suggested that the volunteers need to pass out dolls. Dan wanted to know if he could tell them someone would be happy to come and show what the dolls are for.
Ghidotti School: Howard will contact them in regards to a Key Club.
Dan will speak to Bruce at Bitney Springs. $2200 would be needed to start up a new Key Club.
Will drop Circle K club.
Jane will be in charge of the 6th grade challenge.
Budget is at $27,200 - Budget, $22,000, reserve $5000.
Howard would like the Board to consider putting some money into the scholarship fund.
Lew would like to see the money made at the Draft Horse Classic go to the admin account so there would be money to work on the fair booth, what ever is left can go to scholarships.
Next meeting, Sept. 15th, 5:30 pm, 3rd Wednesday of the month.
